REVIEW: Wonder Lust by Cincinnati’s New Sincerity Works

New Sincerity Works brings prowess to their music, just as you’d expect a band with imminent wisdom and experience would. Cincinnati’s own indie pop, Americana group are no strangers to playing music. They’ve been in the game decades longer than most of us.

The sextet have a light hearted approach to music. One that many might call opposite of the more down hearted youth of today’s generation.

Wonder Lust, New Sincerity Works follow up record, is that of familiarity. The tracks resemble something you’ve heard your uncle play around a bonfire mid summer. “Midwest Reverie” is reminiscent of a Southern version of a U2 track, with heavier instrumental parts.

The LP was released in September of 2017 and has gotten quite a bit of buzz surrounding it. Big Takeover Magazine named it one of their top 150 of the best albums of 2017. Blog Talk Radio even nominated Wonder Lust for best album of 2017.

The album spirals through a multitude of elements, allowing it to be both diverse and fluid. Each track is melodic, with the lyrical structure to match. Although, Wonder Lust doesn’t compare to many album released in 2017, it is a very strong compilation of songs.
